Jamie Redknapp backs Chelsea star Mason Mount to replicate Kevin de Bruyne
According to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea ace Mason Mount has the potential to become Englan’ds Kevin de Bruyne.
To do that, he will have to dominate the game like his Belgian counterpart. The duo came face to face yesterday as England took on Belgium in the Nations League.
Mount was the hero of the night as he scored the winner to take England to the top of their Nations League group.
Mount started on the right side of a front three but gradually moved across to the left in the second half. This helped him deflect a shot past Simon Mignolet for the winner.
Redknapp has urged the 21-year-old to do that on a regular basis. He believes that Mount can replicate De Bruyne under Gareth Southgate.
“When we talk about Mount I want him to do that more, he can do it for us, you haven’t got to stay out on the right.”
The Belgian skipper is arguably the best midfielder in world football. He has been a consistent performer for Manchester City and is a creative tour-de-force.
The reigning Player of the Season winner, De Bruyne is a world-class player capable of turning a game on its head.
While it is good to see our players be linked to the likes of the Belgian, they are still some way away from reaching the same heights.
