According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Chelsea are open to letting Emerson Palmieri join Juventus on loan.
The 26-year-old has already agreed on personal terms with the Italian champions. Signed from Roma in 2018, Emerson is now ready to return to his homeland.
Emerson has failed to cement himself as the club’s first-choice left-back. Both Emerson and Marcos Alonso struggled last season, forcing Chelsea to dip into the market this summer.
Having brought in the impressive Ben Chilwell, Emerson’s opportunities this season would have been largely limited.
He has played for us only in the Carabao Cup this season. With Alonso getting the nod in the Premier League, it can be argued that Emerson is at best the third-choice left-back at the club.
Given the peripheral importance he has at Chelsea, him moving to Juventus would be the best for all parties.
Emerson has made 57 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions. During this time, he has scored one goal and assisted five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Having enjoyed a lavish summer window, the Blues are now keen to offload players to balance the books. Emerson looks set to be one of the stars on their way out.
With the Euros coming up next summer, a good string of performances will aid Emerson’s chances of making the Chelsea squad.
Interest in Emerson was high, with Inter Milan, West Ham United and PSG all keen. However, it would not appear that Juventus have won the race to land him.
