Chelsea’s financial demands led to Bayern dropping interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi
According to Sport Bild (h/t Football.london), Chelsea’s stringent financial demands led to European champions Bayern Munich back down on their interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The reigning German and European champions have been chasing Hudson-Odoi’s signing since the summer of 2019. However, a move did not materialise back then, following which the winger signed a new contract with Chelsea. (h/t Football.london)
Die Roten, however, rekindled their interest in the England international in the recently-concluded transfer window. Ahead of the deadline day, Bayern manager Hansi Flick had confirmed that the club were keen on the 19-year-old. (h/t Football.london)
“He is one of the greatest talents on the position. Therefore it is legitimate that we at Bayern Munich deal with him.”
However, owing to some brilliant negotiating tactics from Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, Bayern were forced to end their interest in the teenage winger.
As per the report, Granovskaia demanded that if Bayern were to take Hudson-Odoi on loan for the season, they include a clause where in Chelsea will be due a penalty fee if he didn’t make a certain number of appearances.
In addition, Chelsea wanted to insert an obligatory permanent transfer clause of £70m should Hudson-Odoi feature for a specified number of times for the German heavyweights. (h/t Football.london)
