Chelsea ace Timo Werner will be ready to face Crystal Palace

According to Football.london, Chelsea star Timo Werner is expected to be ready to play Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The German ace broke his Chelsea duck yesterday. His first-half strike was well taken and looked to be taking Frank Lampard to yet another win over Jose Mourinho.

Unfortunately, Erik Lamela brought Spurs level late on as the game ended 1-1 in normal time. The game eventually went to penalties with Lampard finally losing out to Jose Mourinho.

Werner did not feature amongst the five Chelsea stars who stepped up to take their spot-kicks. It was because he went down with what appeared to be an injury towards the end of the game.

Speaking after the match, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard confirmed that the 24-year-old had gone down with cramps. He is however expected to be fit to face Crystal Palace this Saturday.

The player too is looking forward to the game this Saturday and is seeking to get us back to winning ways.

Chelsea lost out on penalties

With our best striker now available, nothing less than three points will do against the Eagles. We have already dropped five points in our first three games.

If Liverpool and Manchester City have shown us anything in the last two seasons, every point matters.

Werner has featured in four of our five games so far this season. Given the amount of energy he expends, it is no surprise that he came down with cramps. Whether he will start against the Eagles on Saturday remains to be seen.

The match against Spurs also saw summer signing Ben Chilwell start his first game for the Blues. He lasted 66 minutes before being replaced by Emerson Palmieri.
