A View From The Bridge

“The cheque book is still open” – Transfer expert claims Chelsea’s summer spree isn’t over yet

Chelsea backed to sign more players this summer

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express), Transfer expert Ian McGarry believes Chelsea are far from done in the transfer market.

The Blues have enjoyed a dream summer that has seen them splash the cash on a number of high-profile names.

Frank Lampard’s side have spent in excess of £200million while signing five first-team stars. These include Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Kai Havertz.

Chelsea have had an excellent summer transfer window

The Blues are closing in on Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. The Senegalese is expected to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga for the starting role. (h/t Express)

McGarry believes Mendy is unlikely to be the last name in through the door at the Bridge.

“I don’t think Chelsea’s spending has stopped, as simple as that.”

Chelsea could yet make a mvoe for Declan Rice

He confirmed that West Ham United ace Declan Rice remains Chelsea’s top centre-back target. McGarry went on to add that he expects the Blues to make a push for the English international in the next few weeks.

“My understanding is that the cheque book is still open and there will be more signings to come in.”

Securing Rice will take our success in the market this summer to stratospheric levels. Alongside Silva, the youngster will add quality to a position that was our Achilles heel last season.

Frank lampard must now deliver at Chelsea

More Chelsea News

Chelsea enjoyed a promising season under Frank Lampard last time around. The Blues finished in the top four while also making it to the FA Cup final.

Having been suitably reinforced this summer, the onus is now on the players and the manager to translate the efforts onto the pitch. This could be the dawn of a very Blue future.
