Serie A giants make approach for Chelsea ace deemed surplus to requirements

AC Milan make approach for Antonio Rudiger

According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Serie A giants AC Milan have approached Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger over the possibility of a summer transfer.

Rudiger has been with Chelsea for three years now, having signed from AS Roma. The German international has been a regular for the Blues for most of his time at the Bridge.

However, injuries meant he featured sparingly under Frank Lampard last season. And in the current season, the 27-year-old seems to have fallen down the pecking order following Thiago Silva’s signing.

Rudiger is yet to feature for Chelsea in the new season. He was an unused substitute against Brighton and was completely left out of the matchday squad for the last three games.

European giants Barcelona and Roma were mulling over a move for the German centre-back. In addition, PSG, too, have shown an interest in the 27-year-old.

Now, AC Milan have also thrown their hat in the ring for Rudiger’s signing. The Rossoneri are intent on bolstering their defence and the Chelsea star is one among the players they are considering signing. (h/t Football.london)

But, a deal is far from being done at the moment. Milan are keen on signing Rudiger on loan initially. However, Chelsea prefer an up front sale right now. (h/t Football.london)

Given the amount that the club has spent, we may see a number of players leave Stamford Bridge in the coming week. With so many clubs vying for Rudiger’s future, it will be interesting to see where the centre-back ends up.
