A View From The Bridge

Lampard refuses to rule out the exit of talented Chelsea starlet who is in demand

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be on his way out of Chelsea

According to the Metro, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could leave the club in the coming days.

The midfielder was left out of the Blues squad that faced Barnsley in the Carabao Cup third round. Kai Havertz was the star on the night with a well-taken hat-trick.

Loftus-Cheek started in an advanced role in our season opener against Brighton and Hove Albion. He lasted just over an hour and came in for heavy criticism for his performance.

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek coudl be on the mvoe this summer

Although Lampard defended the player, Loftus-Cheek has not featured in both of Chelsea’s games since.

The 24-year-old has a number of fans, with over eight teams vying for his signature. According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, the Chelsea midfielder has been the subject of loan enquiries from a host of clubs.

The 24-year-old was a promising talent who looked to be on the cusp of breaking out under Maurizio Sarri. Unfortunately, an Achilles injury derailed his development, sidelining him for more than a year.

Loftus-Cheek has struggled with injuries

He has struggled to replicate the same form since his return. Given the fierce competition in the Chelsea midfield, Loftus-Cheek could consider moving out to gain more game time.

Target Euros 2021?

With the Euros scheduled for next summer, the midfielder will need to play regularly to catch the eyes of England boss Gareth Southgate. That is far from guaranteed at Chelsea and is also a situation faced by fellow Blue Ross Barkley.

The duo has been linked with a move to Aston Villa and West Ham United. With just under two weeks to go before the window closes, it remains to be seen where they end up. (h/t The Telegraph)

Another player who could be on his way out is Antonio Rudiger. The German too has been left out of our last two match day squads and appears to be on his way out.
