Kai Havertz promises more goals if played in preferred role
According to the Express, Chelsea star Kai Havertz has vowed to keep scoring for his new club, after urging Frank Lampard to make a key tactical change for the Carabao Cup win against Barnsley.
The 21-year-old was the star of the show as he bagged an impressive hat-trick against the Championship side.
Havertz had endured a difficult start to the season as he played in different positions in his first two games. He played on the right against Brighton before donning the role of a false nine against Liverpool.
However playing in the number 10 role against Barnsley, he hit his stride in Blue. He formed a formidable understanding with Tammy Abraham and the duo connected well during the match.
Now, Havertz has pledged to keep scoring if Lampard continues to play him in the same position. (h/t Express)
“It means a lot. It’s my beginning at the club and I want to score more goals, more goals. This is my goal! I hope to continue like this.”
He also praised Abraham and hopes to link up more with the Blues youngster. (h/t Express)
“He can hold the ball up, he is very fast and I hope we continue like that.”
Havertz’s performances also earned him admiration from Lampard. He was full of praise for the German ace and hopes he continues to impress in the matches to come. (h/t Express)
Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup fourth round on September 29.
