According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Crystal Palace and Fulham are considering making a move for out of favour Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is a target for AC Milan.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea from French club AS Monaco for £40m after helping them to the Ligue 1 title in 2016/17. However, he struggled to make any impact in his debut campaign.
As a result, he was loaned out to AC Milan in the following campaign. However, the temporary stint was far from a success. The 2019/20 season saw Bakayoko return to Monaco on a year-long loan deal and had a decent enough spell.
The 25-year-old finished the curtailed 2019/20 campaign with the Principality outfit with one goal and two assists from 23 appearances in all competitions.
Back at Chelsea now that his loan spell is over, Bakayoko will be surplus to requirements in Frank Lampard’s side given the plethora of options at the manager’s disposal in the midfield department already.
AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman for some time now, in spite of his failed loan stint at San Siro. However, they will now have to contend with competition from two more clubs – Crystal Palace and Fulham. (h/t Football.london)
Bakayoko has featured just 43 times for Chelsea so far, scoring and assisting three goals apiece. While he still has two years left on his contract with the club, it is highly unlikely that we will see him don a Blue Chelsea shirt again.
But it remains to be seen where the one-time capped French international ends up next season.
