Newcastle United interested in Michy Batshuayi
According to the Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are looking at the possibility of signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan this summer.
The 26-year-old signed for Chelsea back in 2016, but has hardly been a regular in the starting lineup in his four years at the club. In fact, the Belgian has had two loan spells away at Borussia Dortmund and Valencia.
Till date, he has featured 77 times for the Blues, scoring 25 goals and assisting eight more. Eight of those 25 goals came in the recently concluded campaign, when he started as the second-choice striker behind Tammy Abraham, but fell behind Olivier Giroud in the second half of the term.
Now, with Timo Werner also joining the club, Batshuayi’s chances of game time look bleak. So, an exit this summer is very much on the cards, with Leeds United looking at signing the Belgian international.
And now, Newcastle United have also emerged as a suitor for the 26-year-old. However, the Magpies are looking at loaning Batshuayi. (h/t Chronicle Live)
This might not suit Chelsea. The club has already spent heavily on Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer. More incomings are expected, with Kai Havertz closing in on a transfer.
So, we will need to balance the books by offloading some of the fringe players in the squad, with Batshuayi being one among them.

Moreover, Batshuayi has entered the final year of his contract. Not offloading him this summer permanently would mean, Chelsea lose him on for nothing next year.
So, it would be unlikely that Chelsea would agree to loan him out this summer and Newcastle may have to come up with an offer to sign him permanently.
