Transfer News: PL outfit eye loan move for 22-year-old Chelsea ace

Everton eyeing loan move for Fikayo Tomori

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea academy graduate Fikayo Tomori is wanted by Premier League side Everton on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Tomori has been with Chelsea since 2005. After loan spells away at Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County, the centre-back became a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge this past season.

The Englishman impressed in the first half of the season and even managed to break into the England national team on the back of his displays. However, he did struggle for game time towards the end of the season.

Tomori made 22 appearances for Chelsea in the 2019/20 season. Only three of them came since the turn of the year, with two of those coming in the FA Cup.

With Chelsea eyeing defensive reinforcements this summer, his game time might take a further hit in the upcoming season. And Everton are looking to capitalise on the situation by taking him up on a season-long loan deal. (h/t The Telegraph)

Apart from Everton, French side Rennes are also eyeing a swoop for the 22-year-old Tomori.

Everton have previously taken Kurt Zouma on loan for a year in 2018/19. The Frenchman enjoyed a rather fruitful spell at Goodison Park, which helped him return and become a regular at the Bridge upon returning. And Tomori, too, could follow a similar route.

Tomori’s sensational goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers was voted the 2019/20 Chelsea Goal of the Season. With him in need of regular game time to continue developing, a loan deal could be a good move for all parties involved.
