According to the Metro, Chelsea legend John Terry has sent Thiago Silva a message ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge.
The 35-year-old Brazilian looks set to become our second high-profile defensive signing in two days. The Blues had earlier completed a move for Ben Chilwell.
According to the report, Silva will originally join Chelsea on a one -year deal. He is expected to land in London within the next two days for his medical.
It would appear that Terry has jumped the gun regarding the transfer. Silva took to Instagram to thank PSG, having spent eight years with them.
Terry for his part commented on the player’s post. His reply consisted of emojis, namely a blue heart accompanied by eyes.
It would insinuate that the transfer is as good as done and is imminent. Despite the defender’s advanced age, he remains a potent force to be reckoned with.
Silva would add leadership and organization to a backline that has been largely haphazard in it’s functioning as a unit.
As per the report, Silva’s deal will include the option of a 12-month extension. This can be activated by either party at the end of next season.
Silva reminded everyone that he is still an elite defender in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich. Despite ending up on the losing side, he expertly dominated Robert Lewandowski, who went on to have a frustrating night.
Although the likes of Lewis Dunk and Declan Rice would have been long-term options, they lack the experience that Silva has.
Terry is one of the best defenders to grace the Premier League. The Blues legend’s endorsement of Silva is all a fan needs to know of the Brazilian’s quality.
