According to a report from BBC, Chelsea youngster Marc Guehi as agreed to return to Championship outfit Swansea City on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old Guehi is a product of the Blues’ youth academy. He made his senior debut for the club in September last year, in the Carabao Cup clash against Grimsby Town.
The January transfer window saw the young defender leave Chelsea on loan in search of regular game-time. Having joined Swansea, Guehi became a key part of Steve Cooper’s team, helping them to the Championship playoffs.
The 20-year-old featured 14 times for the Welsh outfit, including the two-legged playoff semi-final tie against Brentford. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Back at the club, Guehi is unlikely to find a lot of opportunities, with Chelsea closing in on the signing of two centre-backs in the form of Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr.
So, another loan spell is the right course of action for the England U21 international. And as per the report, he has agreed to return to Swansea for the 2020/21 campaign.
As is the case every summer, a number of promising young talents have left Chelsea on loan deals. Last week saw Izzy Brown join second division outfit Sheffield Wednesday on a temporary spell.
Ike Ugbo also left the club, joining Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge, after having signed a new contract with Chelsea, extending his stay till 2022. Trevor Chalobah also penned a new deal till 2023, before joining FC Lorient on a temporary spell.
More loan departures are expected to be announced in the coming days.
