John Terry took to Instagram to vent his frustration at poor refereeing in the FA Cup final
The FA Cup final against Arsenal was a chance for Chelsea to end a promising season with a trophy.
Although the team’s performance on the night did little to warrant it, Anthony Taylor was in no mood to make it easier.
Often Chelsea’s nemesis, the referee struck again as he made a number of controversial calls against the Blues. The biggest one of them being the second yellow card that sent Mateo Kovacic off.
The Croatian was given his marching orders for what was a rather innocuous challenge. This earnt him the wrath of former Chelsea skipper John Terry.
The Blues legend took to Instagram Stories to vent his displeasure at clearly what he thought was substandard refereeing.
It was not the only point of contention during the match. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went down too easily in the box in what was a very soft penalty. The Gabonese scored from the spot to draw Arsenal level.
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen was also fouled in the lead up to Arsenal’s winner, only for it to be waved away.
Gunners keeper Emiliano Martinez also appeared to handle the ball outside his area, which was once again ignored. This does not include the numerous fouls and freekicks that were denied to us.
Chelsea players, past and present, have every right to call out what was at best sub-standard refereeing. The FA Cup final is one of the most prestigious games in English football. Unfortunately, yesterday’s game is a testament to everything that is wrong with match officials in this country.

In fairness, it was a poor match where neither side showed themselves to be superior. Arsenal to their credit took their chances to win the game.
Taylor has often proven to be an irritant at Chelsea matches. Hopefully, we see less of him in the future.
