“Complete fabrication” – Chelsea deny unprofessional conduct in key transfer deal

Chelsea deny claims of unprofessionalism by Marina Granovskaia

According to the Standard, Chelsea have denied that club director Marina Granovskaia has acted unprofessionally in the pursuit of German star Kai Havertz.

The allegations come following rumours that Granovskaia has been speaking to contacts in Germany. She does so under the impression that she can exploit weaknesses within the Bayer Leverkusen hierarchy in order to gain an advantage in negotiations.

The club has refuted the allegations and reiterated that she has upheld the highest professional level while doing her job.

“We vigorously deny these suggestions; these claims are a complete fabrication.”

Marina Granovskaia is one of the most powerful women in football

Owner Roman Abramovich’s most trusted advisor, Granovskaia oversees Chelsea’s transfer strategy and plays a crucial role when it comes to negotiations.

The club’s acquisitions in recent windows have seen her stock rise in the footballing world. A master negotiator, she is one of the sport’s most powerful women today.

Havertz is one of the best young players in world football and has been consistently linked to Chelsea. With talks regarding a transfer ongoing, the malicious claims against Granovskaia have irked Chelsea officials.

The Blues have stolen a march on their rivals by bringing in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner even before the window opened last Monday.

Havertz remains a top target for Chelsea

With Real Madrid out of the picture, Chelsea have a free run at Havertz. Bringing in Havertz quickly will help us focus on other deals.

As of yet, the allegations against Granovskaia remain just that – unfounded slurs. The benefit of the doubt has to be given to her in the absence of incriminating evidence.

With the club now behind her, she can calmly go about providing Frank Lampard with the tools he needs to secure on-field success.
