Chelsea unhappy with Frank Lampard’s training methods

According to Football Insider (h/t Express), Chelsea players are unhappy over Frank Lampard’s intense training methods.

Both Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic were taken off with injured hamstrings in the FA Cup final at Wembley. A number of Blues stars blame Lampard for the occurrence.

Spanish winger Pedro also dislocated his shoulder in the dying minutes as Chelsea succumbed to a defeat. With him set to leave the club this summer, he may have played his last game for the Blues.

Willian too has missed the last two games with an injury. The Brazilian too appears to be on his way out after rejecting the club’s latest contract offer.

According to the report, multiple senior players believe Lampard and his coaching staff have worked for the squad too hard. They believe the intense training regime has potentially contributed to the injury crisis.

Players remain unconvinced by the club’s injury prevention methods and believe fatigue remains a major concern.

The Blues have played 12 games in the past one month. It will soon become 13 when the Blues take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Saturday.

With a 3-0 deficit to overcome, the game isn’t going to be an easy one. This will give Chelsea 35 days to recover ahead of the 2020-21 season that begins on September 12.

Despite this exceeding the 30-day minimum time agreed between the Premier League and the clubs, Lampard believes it is not enough.
