According to Football Insider (h/t Express), Chelsea have entered negotiations with Serie A giants AC Milan for the signing of star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.
It has been a brilliant transfer window for Chelsea so far. The early signing of Hakim Ziyech has been followed up by the transfers of Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and most recently, Thiago Silva, the latter two on free transfers.
However, the business seems to be far from done as the Blues are now in talks to bring in Italian international Donnarumma from AC Milan. (h/t Express)
It is no secret that Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled to make the desired impact since his big money move from Athletic Bilbao two years ago. So much so that, Frank Lampard benched him in favour of the ageing Willy Caballero on multiple occasions this past season.
So, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that the club are looking for better alternatives in the goalkeeping department. The likes of Jan Oblak, Andre Onana and Nick Pope have been linked with a switch to the Bridge this summer. (h/t Express)
And the latest name that seems to be on the radars of Lampard & co. is that of Donnarumma. (h/t Express)
A product of the AC Milan academy, the 21-year-old has established himself as one of the best in the Serie A, since breaking into the first-team back in 2015. Till date, he has made 203 appearances for the Rossoneri keeping 73 clean sheets in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)
However, a move for a new goalkeeper can only be launched once we are able to move Kepa on this summer. It is being claimed that the club is ready to take a loss on the £71m that was paid to sign him.
It remains to be seen who the club goes on to sign to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
