Chelsea could use Hazard and Courtois to seal Sergio Reguilon signing

According to a report from Football.london, Chelsea could enlist the help of two former stars, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, to sign Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon this summer.

The 23-year-old Reguilon came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and broke into the first-team during the ill-fated 2018/19 season. However, following the return of Zinedine Zidane, he found himself down the pecking order.

Following the arrival of Ferland Mendy to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer, Reguilon was loaned out to Sevilla for the 2019/20 campaign. And the Spaniard enjoyed a sensational season with the Andalusian outfit.

Reguilon finished the season with a tally of three goals and four assists in 35 matches across all competitions for Sevilla. His exploits with the loan club saw him being named as the best left-back in Spain for the 2019/20 season.

In spite of this, he will still be behind Marcelo and Mendy in the pecking order at Real Madrid – a situation that Chelsea are now looking to exploit in the ongoing transfer window. (h/t Football.london)

It is no secret that we are in need of serious upgrades in the left-back department, considering that both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have flattered to deceive.

While Ben Chilwell is seen as the primary target, his exorbitant price tag means Reguilon is seen as a more reasonable alternative. And as per the report, Chelsea could now look to help from former stars Courtois and Hazard to convince the 23-year-old to switch to Stamford Bridge.

Reguilon, given his age and recent form, would be a fine addition to the squad. It now remains to be seen if the club are successful in the endeavours to sign the Spaniard.
