Dean Henderson is ready to leave Manchester United if he isn’t made the number one
According to the Sun, Manchester United star Dean Henderson has sent an ultimatum to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 23-year-old has demanded to be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, failing which he is keen to leave. This comes as good news to Chelsea, who have earmarked the Englishman as a potential replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Spaniard could be on the move after failing to impress in goal for the Blues. The writing is on the wall after he was dropped for three of Chelsea’s last four games, including the FA Cup final.
Henderson, on the other hand, did his reputation no harm. He continued to go from strength to strength during his loan spell at Sheffield United.
The youngster not only played a key role in Sheffield’s push for Europe but also kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in the Premier League. Kepa, meanwhile, managed just eight while conceding 14 goals more.
Despite his impressive form, Henderson is far from guaranteed a triumphant return to Old Trafford. Spanish international David de Gea has held the fort for close to a decade and signed a contract extension just last year.
The Spaniard has seen his form drop off in the past two years. This had led to some quarters calling for him to be replaced by Henderson.
Solskajer has however backed his goalkeeper while asking Henderson to be patient. While the Norwegian rates Henderson, he believes the keeper isn’t ready to take the baton from De Gea.
With the European Champions next summer, Jordan Pickford’s spot in the England XI is far from secure. Henderson has a real shot at usurping it if he ends up having a good season.
It is difficult to see him do that from the bench. The threat of him moving on could open the door for us to make an offer. Unlike United, he will walk straight into the first-team at Chelsea.

Henderson is one of the best young goalkeepers in the Premier League. he has shown time and again that he has what it takes to become a top-class custodian.
Given the circumstances, he just might do that away from Old Trafford, hopefully at Chelsea.
