Chelsea briefly went top of the league on Saturday

Frank Lampard confident of securing Champions League qualification

According to the Mirror, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is confident that the club will qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

With both Leicester City and Manchester United dropping points, the Blues needed just one point from the final two games to ensure a top-four finish.

We were unable to do so yesterday as Liverpool ran out 5-3 winners on the night. Thankfully, we can complete the job at Stamford Bridge when we take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The game will be more than easy, with the Molineux outfit also chasing European qualification. With Leicester and United set to face each other, we still have our destiny in our own hands.

Lampard is confident his side have it in them to get the job done.

“We know the situation, it’s in our hands to get a result against a very good Wolves team.”

He believes the pressure of the situation will rub off positively on his players. The Blues put up an excellent performance in the reverse fixture as they won 5-2 away at the Molineux.

The same result will be more than welcome at the weekend given the importance of the fixture.

Although Liverpool were the better team on the night, Chelsea showed a good account of themselves. We looked dangerous especially after the introduction of the excellent Chrisitan Pulisic.

The American winger brought us to within touching distance but could not get us over the line. Lampard was confident his side could draw level but Liverpool’s fifth put the game beyond us.
