New AC Milan boss Ralf Rangnick keen on Tiemoue Bakayoko
According to a report from Il Giornale (h/t Mirror), incoming AC Milan manager Ralf Rangnick has his eyes set on a summer swoop for forgotten Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Rangnick is supposedly poised to take over as the manager of the Rossoneri at the end of the next season, replacing Stefano Pioli. And as per the report, he is intent on recruiting Frenchman Bakayoko in his first transfer window in charge.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017, after having led the French club to a surprise Ligue 1 title triumph. However, things never worked out for the midfielder in London.
Having struggled to make an impact at the Bridge in his debut campaign, Bakayoko was loaned out to AC Milan for the 2018/19 season, where he endured a mixed campaign.
Last summer saw him return to AS Monaco on loan, where he has fared decently. He finished the 2019/20 campaign with one goal and two assists from 23 matches in all competitions.
While he has still two years left on his contract with Chelsea, Bakayoko seemingly has no future at the club. More so, considering the riches in the midfield department at Frank Lampard’s disposal.

Given the current financial climes, every penny matters. So, with Bakayoko not part of the plans, the club should look to cash in on him this summer, rather than sending him out on loan for another campaign.
This would help the club boost its coffers as we look to pursue other transfer targets. And with Milan interested, there is a good chance that a deal can be worked out.
