Transfer boost for Chelsea as Real Madrid drop out of race for European star

Real Madrid not in a position to make big signings

According to the Mirror, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that as things stand, the club is not in a position to make major transfers this summer.

This comes as good news for Chelsea who have been vying for German sensation Kai Havertz. With Bayern Munich and now Real dropping out, the Blues have a clear run at the prodigious Bayer Leverkusen star.

Los Blancos have always been at the forefront of major transfers in world football. Not having to compete against them will give us the opportunity to work out a deal.

Real Madrid are not be in a position to bid for Havertz

German national team sporting director Oliver Bierhoff had earlier commented that Havertz would be an excellent fit at Real.

It’s now been an excellent two days on the Havertz front for Chelsea. The player was reported to have made up his mind on a move to Stamford Bridge. With the other big names out of the reckoning, West London might turn out to be his only choice.

Havertz is not keen to spend another season at Leverkusen, especially since Bayer Leverkusen failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The player has been left impressed by Chelsea’s project under Frank Lampard. The Blues have shown plenty of promise this season and hope to kick on to bigger and better things next season.

Alongside Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Havertz has the opportunity to form a new core of players leading the Blue charge.

Leverkusen are not keen to be shortchanged and will stick to their £90m valuation of the player. If it comes to pass, Havertz will be the third German in the Chelsea squad following Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger.

An excellent post-restart form has seen Havertz notch up 17 goals and 9 assists from 43 games in all competitions this season. He could add to that tally once the Europa League resumes next month, provided he stays at the club.

Real secured the La Liga title for the first time in three years last night. This presented further good news for Chelsea who could land as much as £32m as part of the Eden Hazard deal.
