German ace Timo Werner gives his first interview as a Chelsea star
It has been an eventful few days at Chelsea. First, the club made light work of Wolverhampton Wanderers to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Secondly, in attendance that day was the club’s new ace – Timo Werner. Having participated in his first training session on Monday, the German is finally coming to terms with joining the mighty Blues.
A goalscorer par excellence, he has been brilliant for RB Leipzig this season. He scored 34 goals in 45 games while also making 13 assists. Truly excellent figures for a top-level striker.
The 24-year-old is keen to continue that trend in Blue and has outlined that in no uncertain terms. Speaking to the club’s official site, he outlined his primary purpose at the club.
“I’ll try to score as much goals as I can for Chelsea, that is the big reason why they bought me, to bring the goals I scored in Leipzig here, and maybe score more goals than there.”
He went on to add that the Premier League is well suited to his strengths. Werner hopes to take his level up a notch as he prepares to play outside Germany for the first time in his career.
“The style of the Premier League is very fast and my speciality is that I am really fast so I think it is perfect for me to play here.”
Werner went on to add the important part that Frank Lampard had in making him choose Chelsea.
The German ace had a number of conversations with the Blues boss, who made it clear about what he expects out of him both as a player and a role model.
