Said Benrahma is a target for Chelsea in the summer transfer window
According to the Express, Brentford winger Said Benrahma admits he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.
The 24-year-old has played a key role in the Bees’ bid to gain promotion to the Premier League. He has been especially impressive since the restart and it has been nearly impossible to contain for opposition defenders.
“I was really flattered.”
Benrahma has scored 17 goals and 9 assists in 42 appearances for Brentford this season. Seven of those goals have come since the league restarted last month.
This included a brilliant hat-trick against Wigan Athletic, a game that saw Chelsea scouts in attendance.
The Algerian admits he is focussed on getting Brentford to the top tier. The fact that his performances have garnered the attention of top clubs provides him with confidence.
Chelsea are not the only London club with an interest in the flying winger. Arch-rivals Arsenal too are keeping tabs on Benrahma.
The Blues will need players to fill the gaps left by Pedro and possibly Willian. In Benrahma, we may get a shrewd signing who will add both goals and assists from the flank.
Already familiar with the English game and having hit a purple patch, Benrahma looks ready to take a step up in level.
Chelsea has already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. The club is now in pursuit of Kai Havertz. Benrahma could, however, prove to be a low-profile yet high-output signing.
