Chelsea can net as much as £32m as Eden Hazard and Real Madrid topple Barcelona
According to the Mirror, Chelsea are set for a cash inflow following Real Madrid’s successful la Liga campaign.
The victory is the club’s first League championship since 2017. It augurs well for Chelsea who sold superstar Eden Hazard to Los Blancos for £91m last summer.
The deal that took the Belgian to the Spanish capital included various bonus payments. This included clauses that would be triggered if Madrid won La Liga or qualified for the Champions League.
With both the conditions now fulfilled, the Blues could net as much as £32m. Given the current financial climate and also our squad rebuild, it can prove to be a significant amount.
According to the report, Real’s qualification for the Champions League is worth £14m, while the club’s 34th La Liga crown could net the Stamford Bridge outfit £18m.
Chelsea has already spent a combined £89m on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech ahead of next season. With the likes of Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell still linked, our business is far from done. (h/t Mirror)
The defence has continued to be a source of irritation for Lampard and the money will come in handy in bringing in reinforcements.
Real are still alive in the Champions League, although they trail 2-1 against Manchester City ahead of the second leg. A miracle is not outside the realms of possibility and the Blue fans will be hoping thus.
Chelsea are set to receive a total of £130m from Madrid for Hazard if all clauses are fulfilled. It is not clear how many games the 29-year-old would need to play in order to trigger all of the bonus payments. (h/t Mirror)
