PL side willing to bid up to £10m for the signature of promising 20-year-old Chelsea starlet

Crystal Palace keen on Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher

According to the Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in bidding up to £10m for Chelsea prospect, Conor Gallagher.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been at the club since 2008. Currently on loan at Swansea City, he has been an everpresent as the club strives to make the playoffs.

Gallagher believes he has improved massively in terms of creativity since his move to the Liberty Stadium. This can be attributed to him assisting 6 times in 14 appearances for the Swans so far. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Connor Gallagher spent the first half of the season out on loan at Charlton Athletic

This has caught the attention of Palace boss Roy Hodgson. He sees the 20-year-old as an ideal prospect as he tries to strengthen his squad.

Gallagher has two years left on his Chelsea contract and Hodgson hopes the club is willing to part with the talented youngster. The youngster had spent the first half of the season on loan at Charlton Athletic. He played 26 times for them, scoring 6 goals and assisting 4. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Although Frank Lampard has proven generous in his willingness to play youngsters, the Blues are well stocked in midfield. It remains to be seen if Gallagher has what it takes to break into our squad.

According to the report, Palace are keen to take him either permanently or on a loan. A loan would be the better choice though, given that Gallagher will find game time easier to come by at Selhurst Park.

Gallagher grew up admiring Frank Lampard

This will give us the perfect scenario to judge the youngster’s usefulness in a Chelsea jersey. If he does not meet our expectations, we might as well cash in on him.

It will also be a test of the youngster’s willingness to prove himself. Having grown up admiring Frank Lampard, he now has an opportunity to please the Chelsea boss.

A box-to-box midfielder who can fulfil a variety of roles, Gallagher’s adaptability is an excellent strength.

Gallagher has represented England at various youth levels. He has certainly shown he has what it takes to thrive in the Championship. Whether he can do so at a higher level or not remains to be seen.
