According to Sky Sports, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come up with more excuses following his team’s FA Cup loss to Chelsea.
Prior to the game, Lampard had told his players to be wary of Bruno Fernandes ‘dangling a leg’. He also questioned a number of ‘strange’ VAR decisions that benefitted United.
“But it seemed that little bit of influencing the officials worked. I don’t want to start criticising because it sounds like it’s sour grapes but it isn’t.”
The Norwegian had bemoaned what he presumed to be a beneficial schedule for Chelsea. The Blues were given two extra days of rest.
It conveniently ignores the fact that United have a bigger squad with fewer injury problems. Solskjaer’s inability to manage his squad better is a testament to his incompetence and not the schedule.
Lampard’s assessment on Fernandes also came true as the Portuguese tried to win a penalty with a dive that would have embarrassed even Micheal Phelps.
The Blues prevailed in spite of going in with a 38-year-old goalkeeper between the sticks and our best player Christian Pulisic on the bench.
Solskajer will be better served to focus on his own team. Had he made as much effort in preparing for the game than coming up with excuses, we wouldn’t have had a cakewalk in the semifinals.
