Sevilla enter the ace for Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso
According to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (h/t Express), Sevilla have emerged as potential suitors for Macros Alonso.
Currently managed by Julen Lopetegui, Los Palanganas has qualified for the Champions League next season. The former Spanish national team boss has a good idea of Alonso, having given him his international bow.
The one concern that can hold up the deal is the transfer fee. According to the report, Sevilla are worried about both the fee and the player’s wages.
Chelsea are keen to bring in a new left-back and will look to get a substantial amount for the defender.
The 29-year-old is excellent going forward but is suspect at the back. More of a wing-back, he has contributed to four goals and three assists in 16 Premier League appearances this season.
Brought in by Antonio Conte, he has made 145 appearances for the Blues and has scored 22 goals and 17 assists. The Spaniard has made just 25 appearances this season. He enjoyed a resurgence of sorts just before the suspension of the league season.
Frank Lampard is keen to strengthen the left side of his defence by bringing in Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell. He is keen to move on both Alonso and Emerson Palmieri to bring in the young Englishman.
With him set to turn 30 later this year, the Blues will do well to get a decent fee for him this summer. Although it can be argued that we will be worse off without his attacking output, the additions of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech should help overcome the deficit.
