According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has told his players to improve their attitude as the race for Champions League qualification heats up.
He believes his stars are too quiet and has called for them to be vocal. Lampard had earlier stated that in the match against Sheffield, he could not hear any of his players.
The 42-year-old manager feels the problems were more mental than tactical. He also believes that his side’s lack of character is not a one-off.
“You can be as quiet as you want off the pitch, but they must come out of that on the pitch.”
He has urged his players to be vocal and communicate better on the pitch. With matches now being played in empty stadiums, the silence is all the more noticeable.
“Sometimes it’s not that easy when players are generally quiet.”
Lampard has called for an immediate reaction from his players. Sheffield United completely outplayed in every facet of the game. With Norwich up next, we can not afford to dwell on the defeat and will have to hit the ground running.
“The important thing now is how we react and I expect that from the players tomorrow.”
Chelsea was handed an unexpected reprieve when both Leicester City and Manchester United failed to capitalize on our slip up.
With our destiny firmly back in our hands, we must not let it slip away again. Lighting does not strike the same spot twice. Expecting our rivals to bail us out again would be the height of stupidity.
Chelsea ends the season with two tough matches against champions Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers. With both bound to be tough games, it is imperative we take all three points against the Canaries.
