According to Romeo Agresti of Goal (h/t Express), Juventus are interested in Chelsea academy starlet Samuel Iling-Junior.
The 16-year-old starlet will become a free agent at the end of the month. He has already informed the Blues of his intention to leave, alerting a plethora of clubs across the continent.
European giants such as Bayern Munich, Ajax Amsterdam and Schalke are among a number of teams chasing the youngster. The Italian champions are in the driving seat for a starlet that Chelsea would have liked to keep.
Currently managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, Juventus and Chelsea could become familiar foes in the transfer market this summer.
According to the report, Samuel has already made up his mind to move to Juventus. He was in Turin recently to finalize terms of the transfer, with only the fine details left to be agreed on.
The Blues have grudgingly accepted that the youngster’s fate lies elsewhere. The club is in line to receive a small compensation fee once the move goes through.
Iling-Junior has made 14 appearances for Chelsea’s Under 18 side this season. 11 of them have come in the Under-18 Premier League while the remaining three were in the UEFA Youth League.
He has garnered just one assist. Despite his promise, he still has a long way to go before breaking out at the senior level. Although it is disappointing to see promising players leave the club, fans have much to look forward to in the coming years.
Not only do we have a crop of promising young players impressing for the senior side but the club’s transfer business could set us up well for the coming decade.
One player who might not be around to experience it is Italian international Jorginho. The 28-year-old has also been linked with a move to Juventus and reunite with Sarri who had inf act brought him to Chelsea.
Jorginho initially found it hard to gain playtime following the restart. Injuries to N’Golo Kante and Billy Gilmour have since seen him return to the lineup. His performances however leave much to be desired.
Chelsea take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a clash that places both teams’ European ambitions on the line.
The Blues need just one point to guarantee themselves a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
