Injury Update: Lampard reveals the extent of Chelsea starlet’s injury and it is not good

Billy Gilmour out injured for three-four months

According to the BBC, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that youngster Billy Gilmour will be out injured for the foreseeable future.

The 19-year-old was taken off in the second half against Crystal Palace last time out. He will now also have to undergo knee surgery.

The Blues’ boss admitted his disappointment with the news. The youngster was particularly impressive this year and had seen his stock rise since his performance against Liverpool. (h/t BBC)

The Chelsea manager was full of praise for his ward and asked him to be proud of his displays this season. Lampard has also admitted that Gilmour’s attitude will see him weather this storm. (h/t BBC)

“His attitude will get him back as quickly as he can.”

Gilmour is the latest midfielder to be ruled out injured. N’Golo Kante was taken off against Watford while Matero Kovacic also missed the last two games. The Croatian is however expected to be fit for Sheffield United.

With numbers in the middle of the park thin, Lampard might have to call back Italian international Jorginho. The 28-year-old has seen just 10 minutes of first-team action since the restart.

It is debatable if he could have even done that had Gilmour been injured. But now since that is, unfortunately, the case, he could be called upon to help us see out the season.
