According to the BBC, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that youngster Billy Gilmour will be out injured for the foreseeable future.
The 19-year-old was taken off in the second half against Crystal Palace last time out. He will now also have to undergo knee surgery.

“I’m very disappointed, as we all are here.”
Lampard revealed that the youngster was crestfallen at the news. The injury will prove to be a setback to his progress for the time being. (h/t BBC)
The Chelsea manager was full of praise for his ward and asked him to be proud of his displays this season. Lampard has also admitted that Gilmour’s attitude will see him weather this storm. (h/t BBC)
“His attitude will get him back as quickly as he can.”
Gilmour is the latest midfielder to be ruled out injured. N’Golo Kante was taken off against Watford while Matero Kovacic also missed the last two games. The Croatian is however expected to be fit for Sheffield United.
With numbers in the middle of the park thin, Lampard might have to call back Italian international Jorginho. The 28-year-old has seen just 10 minutes of first-team action since the restart.
It is debatable if he could have even done that had Gilmour been injured. But now since that is, unfortunately, the case, he could be called upon to help us see out the season.
Chelsea have taken advantage of Leicester City’s poor form to leapfrog them into the third spot. A win against the Blades will see us further cement our position as top four candidates.
Lampard has done well to take us to where we are given the constraints placed on him. A return to the Champions League will be a testament to his ability as a manager.
