Ahead of Chelsea’s final Premier League game against Wolves on Sunday, Frank Lampard has revealed that midfielder N’Golo Kante could be available for selection, having recovered from his injury. (h/t Chelseafc.com)
Kante hasn’t featured for Chelsea since picking up a thigh injury against Watford earlier this month. The Frenchman has missed five matches across all competitions now, with Jorginho stepping into the lineup in his absence.
However, Lampard delivered a positive update on the former Leicester City star’s condition ahead of the big game against Wolves this weekend. Speaking on the eve of the game, the manager has confirmed that the midfielder is back in training and could be involved on Sunday.
“There is a possibility he will feature. He has trained for the first time towards a match pace this morning, so it’s a decision I’ll have to make, talking with him and the medical team, to see if he’s ready to start.”
This ought to come as a major boost ahead of what is a crucial fixture for us. Currently fourth in the table, our chances of qualifying to the Champions League for the next season hang in the balance.
A point against Wolves on Sunday would be enough to clinch it. However, with the Midlands’ outfit also fighting to hold on to their sixth place, they will not make it easy for us.
So, having one of our best players in Kante back on to the field would be a boost. More so, considering our previous performance against Liverpool earlier this week.
It remains to be seen if Kante is fit enough to start on Sunday though.
