“I was like, wow” – Chelsea star wants sensational national teammate at Stamford Bridge

Antonio Rudiger wants Kai Havertz at Chelsea

Speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea defensive star Antonio Rudiger has revealed that he wants Kai Havertz to join him at Stamford Bridge.

If it does happen, he will be the second major German star to move to Chelsea this window, following Timo Werner.

“I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t want him at Chelsea.”

Antonio Rudiger wants Kai Havertz at Chelsea

Rudiger clearly has a high impression of his international compatriot. Given his first-hand experience of having played alongside him, it comes as no surprise.

“Kai is talented. When I saw him train with the Germany national team I was like, wow!”

The 21-year-old is one of the sought after players in world football. The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Leverkusen star.

The youngster has enjoyed a prolific season in Germany. He has scored 17 goals and made 9 assists in 43 games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

After having missed out on the Champions League and also falling short in the cup final, Havertz could be ready to make a fresh start at Chelsea. It is bound to be a matter of debate when he next meets up with Leverkusen officials. (h/t Daily Mail)

Kai Havertz remains the top priority for Chelsea

The Germans can still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League.

The Blues have taken the transfer market by storm with their moves for Werner and Ziyech. Adding Havertz to the mix will make this our most exciting window for some time.

Rudi Voeller had earlier admitted that although Leverkusen hopes to retain the German for another year, his departure remains a very real possibility.

Chelsea’s pursuit of the player has been made easier following the lack of enthusiasm shown by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. (h/t Daily Mail)

The Blues are currently in fourth spot and are also in the semifinals of the FA Cup. The Frank Lampard era has had its shares of up and downs but also undeniable progress.

Whether Havertz will join the Blue revolution or not remains to be seen.
