Frank Lampard eyes three more signings at Chelsea
According to the Guardian (h/t Express), Frank Lampard is keen to make three more signings at Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Blues have already wrapped up deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. This has helped us gain an edge over our competitors going into next season.
Lampard, however, is not satisfied and is keen to ready his team for a title challenge next season. Given the current dominance that Liverpool and Manchester City enjoy, the Blues boss is right to target what is necessary to close the gap.
According to the report, the three players who could be en route to the Bridge are Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Declan Rice.
The addition of Werner and Ziyech has considerably boosted our offensive prowess. Issues still exist at the back as we struggle to keep a clean sheet. In that aspect, the additions of both Chilwell and Rice will be an upgrade over what we already possess at this point in time.
Both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have fallen out of favour at the Bridge. Chilwell will provide Lampard with a legitimate option for the better part of the next decade.
Rice, on the other hand, will bring both ability and leadership to the backline. A versatile player, his ability to also slot into defensive midfield is an added bonus.
Manchester United and now Arsenal are showing signs of progress. The coronavirus pandemic could be a major hindrance in their abilities to go big this summer.
The Blues will do well to take the opportunity and solidify their position before our rivals strengthen themselves.

The Blues are on the right track to build a title-winning team. Our arch-rivals Liverpool too had a fearsome attack that just could not get them over the line last season.
It is only heeding attention to the weakness that they started to prosper. Lampard looks to be doing the same. If we do manage to recruit our targets, Chelsea will go into next season as a better-balanced team.
