Peter Crouch full of praise for Frank Lampard
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, former England striker Peter Crouch has hailed Chelsea manager Frank Lampard for the work he has done in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard took over the reins at the club last summer after a solid start to his managerial career at Championship club Derby County. He replaced Maurizio Sarri following the club’s Europa League triumph.
However, given the fact that Chelsea lost Eden Hazard in the summer and the transfer ban imposed on the club meant that the expectations weren’t too high on the club legend.
But, the former England international has exceeded expectations and built an exciting, youth-centric side that is close to qualifying for the Champions League, while also making it to the finals of the FA Cup.
And former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has lauded the work that Lampard has done in his maiden campaign at the Bridge. (h/t Daily Mail)
“I knew Frank would be the right fit for a club that had lost its identity under Maurizio Sarri but I anticipated this would be a season of transition. If he was to finish in the top four and win the FA Cup – let’s be honest, Chelsea are favourites – that would be a quite magnificent first year.”
Crouch further went on to add that the additions of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner ahead of the next season would only make the team more exciting. (h/t Daily Mail)
