Inter Milan prepared to offer €20m for Emerson Palmieri
According to a report from The Guardian, Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan are ready to offer €20m to acquire the services of Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri this summer.
Emerson arrived at Chelsea from AS Roma in the January transfer window in 2018. However, he has never been able to establish himself as a first-choice in the starting XI at Stamford Bridge. Till date, the 25-year-old has managed 53 appearances for Chelsea, bagging one goal and five assists.
Emerson started the 2019/20 campaign as the first-choice ahead of Marcos Alonso, but failed to make an impression. And eventually, he ended up losing the spot to the Spaniard. He has featured just 19 times in all competitions, managing a solitary assist.
The Brazil-born Italian international has a contract with the club till 2022. But Frank Lampard is prepared to offload him in the summer, with the club eyeing a new left-back, with Ben Chilwell being the primary transfer target. (h/t The Guardian)
Emerson, too, is open to leaving the club as he wants to play regularly in order to earn himself a place in Italy’s squad for the European championships next summer. (h/t The Guardian)
Inter Milan are very much interested in securing the services of Emerson. Manager Antonio Conte, who brought the 25-year-old to Chelsea, is seeking a reunion with the full-back at San Siro. (h/t The Guardian)
The report adds that negotiations are underway between the two clubs. The Nerazzurri are willing to offer a transfer fee of €20m (£18m). However, Chelsea are likely to demand a larger sum, considering that he has still two years left on his deal.
