Chelsea have started off their summer transfer activity with a bang.
The Blues have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. The club is also keenly pursuing Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.
However, it seems another transfer may already have been accidentally confirmed. Said Benrahma was earlier linked with the Blues after impressing at Championship side Brentford.
According to Football.london, during an Instagram live session, Benrahma’s friend Fahd Moufi wrote in the comments: “Congratulations on Chelsea my brother…”
It remains to be seen if the player’s friend has dropped the ball early and let the news slip. The same report goes on to state that Chelsea scouts were present at Griffith Park last week to watch Benrahma in action.
They would have left suitably impressed after Benrahma scored a spectacular hat-trick. With the likes of Pedro and Willian looking set to leave, the club is in need of wide-men this summer.
The Algerian is an excellent player who could become a shrewd purchase for Chelsea. The player had earlier drawn interest from fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Leicester City. It remains to be seen if they will throw their names into the hat for his signature.
The 24-year-old is capable of playing on either flank. He has made 39 appearances this season and has scored 14 goals and 9 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Algerian has been in brilliant form since the restart. He has contributed to four goals and one assist in five games. This included the spectacular hat-trick against Wigan Athletic.
The former Nice winger’s deal at Brentford runs until 2022. He has also earned three senior caps for the Algerian national team.
