Chelsea star wants to take Anfield celebration as inspiration for next season

Mason Mount to draw on lessons from Liverpool’s title celebrations

Chelsea’s visit to Anfield on Wednesday night will be a historic moment for Liverpool. The Reds will finally lift their first League title since 1990.

It can also become a historic day for us if we choose to make it so. Frank Lampard will not need to showcase to his young squad what they can achieve if they continue to work hard and build on the promise they have shown this campaign.

According to the Mirror, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has admitted that he plans to watch our opponents lift the title after the match.

Mason Mount will stay on to watch Liverpool lift the title

He went on to add that he plans to use it as inspiration to lead Chelsea’s charge for the title next season.

“When you watch something like that it will give us extra motivation to win.”

Mount admitted that he dislikes watching others win. But he also was gracious enough to admit that Liverpool are worthy winners.

“For a team to be as dominant as they have been this season definitely gives you motivation for next season to match them.”

Mount scored as Chelsea defeated Manchester United to enter the FA Cup final

Chelsea are through to the FA Cup final after defeating Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday. Mount can get his hands on his first major honour when we take on Arsenal in the showpiece event at Wembley.

Having come through the club’s academy, Mount has been privy to Chelsea’s glories over the last two decades. He is keen to continue that tradition as a new group of players aim to make the history books.

“There’s a new generation coming through and we want to be in the history books like the previous lot as well.”

One of the defining moments of the season occurred during the Charity Shield match between Liverpool and Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated but ended up losing on penalties.

Rather than bow their heads, the German made his players stay back and watch City lift the trophy. A year later, they usurped their opponents.

Mount is on the right track and hopefully, in a year’s time, we will look back to that night at Anfield as the moment that set things into motion.
