Chelsea prepare mass clearout to fund blockbuster signing of £90m-rated star

Chelsea set to sell as many as six players to fund Kai Havertz transfer

According to the Express, Chelsea could sell as many as six players to fund a move for German sensation Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old is one of the sought after players in world football. The Blues have been making waves with their pre-emptive moves in the market and are set to do so with the Leverkusen star.

Havertz has enjoyed a prolific season in Germany. He has scored 17 goals and made 9 assists in 43 games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Kai Havertz remains the top priority for Chelsea

It has been a heartbreaking few days as Leverkusen missed out on Champions League qualification while also losing the DFB Pokal final to Bayern Munich, a match in which Havertz scored.

He could now be set for a fresh start at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is willing to back Frank Lampard in the market. It will not be cheap though, with Havertz being valued at a mammoth £90million by Leverkusen.

According to the report, the likes of Marcos Alonso, Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy, Emerson Palmieri and Danny Drinkwater are all likely to be shipped out.

Emerson Palmieri has been garnering attention from Serie-A

None of the players is high in our pecking order and the club can risk losing them. Alonso, Emerson, and Batshuayi are out of sorts and out of favour, while Bakayoko has spent the last two years out on loan.

Kenedy has failed to make a mark, while the lesser we talk about Drinkwater, the better. Unlike the six players mentioned, Havertz is someone who can come in and add value to our squad.

Our chances of signing the German were boosted following Rudi Voeller’s admission. He confirmed that the player can move if a deal can be agreed upon.

It promises to be a busy summer at Chelsea. The Blues have so far invested well and in Havertz, they will be getting a potential superstar in the works.

It remains to be seen how we get rid of the deadwood in the squad. A new dawn is approaching at Stamford Bridge and not everyone will be a part of the Blue revolution.
