Chelsea fans could be in attendance at Wembley for the Community Shield

There is a lot of excitement among Chelsea fans regarding the club’s transfer business. Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already joined.

The Blues faithful could watch their new-look team in action, in person, on 29th August, in the Community Shield game, provided we defeat Arsenal in the FA cup this weekend.

According to a report by the Sun, the FA could use the traditional curtain-raiser as an opportunity to test the return of fans.

The FA are in talks with the government to allow supporters to watch the game. According to the report, they want the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to greenlight the Community Shield as a test event.

This would allow a reduced capacity of around 15,000-20,000 to be present while following the necessary social distancing guidelines

The last game to feature fans in the top-flight was Leicester City’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa on March 9. Games have since taken place in empty stadiums.

The Premier League is determined to bring fans back for the start of the 2020-21 campaign. This will bring forward the Government’s planned return on October 1. This year’s league campaign will kick off on September 12.
