According to French publication L’Equipe(h/t Express), Chelsea are set to accelerate the transfer of Monaco wonderkid Malamine Efekele.
The soon to be 16-year-old primarily plays as a right-winger. The youngster however is a versatile attacker who can do a good job on the other flank and also upfront.
Efekele’s pace and ability have seen him compared to French sensation Kylian Mbappe. The PSG attacker is already one of the best players in the world at 21. Being compared to him is no mean feat and speaks volumes of Efekele’s abilities.
According to the report, the Blues are set to accelerate their pursuit due to Brexit. The UK leaving the European Union could potentially block the recruitment of ‘foreign minors’ after January 1, 2021.
Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, the Blues are far from done regarding transfers. With young players currently thriving at the club, it comes as no surprise that Chelsea are also keen to recruit upcoming stars.
With Brexit set to affect transfers, it remains to be seen how clubs cope with the issue. Producing one’s own conveyor belt of players could be a solution.
For that, we need the best talents coming through the system. Given the opportunities afforded to them this season, Stamford Bridge could become a buzzing hive for tomorrow’s stars.
It remains to be seen if we can sign the talented youngster or not. If he turns out to be anywhere close to Mbappe’s level, we will have a real talent on our hands.
Chelsea are currently in the third position in the Premier League. Frank Lampard’s side next take on Sheffield United at the weekend.
With both Leicester City and Manchester United close on our heels, we cannot afford to drop any more points.
A third-place finish will be an excellent start for Lampard’s tryst with managing at the top level.
