An unmissable bargain? – Marina Granovskaia confident of signing star attacker in cut-price deal

According to MEN, Chelsea are confident of securing a deal for Kai Havertz that will cost lesser than Bayer Leverkusen’s valuation of £90m.

The German sensation has been widely tipped to become Chelsea’s third summer signing. The Blues moved quickly to secure the signings of both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner before the window was even open.

The 21-year-old is desperate to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. The Germans failed to qualify for it as they could only finish fifth in the Bundesliga.

They do still, however, have an opportunity to do so if they win the Europa League. With the likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan still in it, victory is far from certain.

According to the report, Leverkusen have already told Havertz that he can move at the end of the season. With Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in no position to make a move, it paves the way for Chelsea to take full advantage of the situation.

Chelsea are looking to pay around £70m for the German playmaker. This is just short of the club record fee paid for Kepa Arrizabalaga just two summers ago.

Havertz has enjoyed an excellent season at Leverkusen. He has scored 17 goals and created 9 assists from 43 games in all competitions this season. Alongside Ziyech and Werner, he will form a new core for the Blues attack next season.

The 21-year-old believes he is ready for a new challenge and is keen to leave Leverkusen to take the next step in his career. (h/t Mirror)

The Blues have not signed a player in the last two windows. This summer, however, promises to be one of the most exciting in recent years in terms of recruitment.

It remains to be seen how negotiations for the player proceed. Signing Havertz will ensure Chelsea have a core of young promising players for years to come.
