Ross Barkley believes Frank Lampard’s winning mentality will lead the club to FA Cup glory

According to the Independent, Ross Barkley believes Chelsea can win the FA Cup due to Frank Lampard’s winning mentality.

The English midfielder was the hero against Leicester City as he came off the bench to score a second-half winner.

Lampard is a four-time winner of the competition and has an excellent idea of what it takes to get the job done. Now looking to add to his tally as a manager, Barkley believes it will push the players to do better.

“It’s the mentality of the club and the gaffer since he’s been back. He wants to win every game and it’s a trophy.”

The Blues have started off with three wins on the trot since football returned. Having beaten Manchester City and Leicester, the players can take pride in their ability to match the best.

This should hold them in good stead in the semifinals against Manchester United. The Red Devils have bested us thrice this season, while also dumping us out of the competition last year.

With both teams so close to the showpiece event at Wembley, Chelsea can throw a dagger in the hearts of the United revolution by winning the match that matters the most.

Frank Lampard won the FA Cup four times as a player

Barkley has enjoyed a good run in the competition this campaign. He has now scored three goals and assisted one more in the FA Cup. If the Blues do go all the way, they know who their man of the tournament is.

The 26-year-old admitted that Lampard encourages his midfielders to get forward and score. Given his record as a player, it is hardly surprising.

“The gaffer encourages it, he likes the midfielders getting into the box.”

The Blues have done well this season given the constraints placed on us. With reinforcements coming in, Lampard can launch a title assault next season.

That being said, an FA Cup win this season will be an excellent reward for a set of young players who have stepped up and been counted.
