N’Golo Kante back in first-team training for Chelsea
According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have been handed a boost following star midfielder N’Golo Kante returning to contact training.
This has rekindled hope within the club that the Frenchman will have a part to play in the remainder of the season.
He has had a season to forget, with injuries limiting him to just 22 appearances this time around. Having joined the club in 2016, he has since made 164 appearances for Chelsea, while scoring 11 goals and 7 assists.
Kante had opted against taking part in phase one of non-contact training. His fears were understood by the club, who granted him compassionate leave.
He eventually returned to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground to keep fit. Training on his own, he ensured his fitness level stayed up, while also avoiding group contact.
With him back in contact training, Chelsea have been granted a huge boost in the race for the top four.
Although Kante did not take part in the in-house training game at Stamford Bridge last Saturday, he was involved in phase two contact sessions at Cobham on Monday and Tuesday.
With the race for the fourth spot heating up, Chelsea will have to contend against a full-strength Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur outfits.
With just nine more games to go, it is imperative that we have our key players fit and raring to go. A player of Kante’s ability can help turn a game in our favour.
A reliable player for the club, he is now back to help us succeed once again.
