Jorginho has no desire to quit Chelsea
According to The Athletic, Chelsea star Jorginho is keen to stay at the club and work under Frank Lampard, amid exit speculations.
The 28-year-old was signed by Chelsea in 2018 after we beat off the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool. He was brought in by former boss Maurizio Sarri, who had managed him earlier at Napoli.
Now in charge of Juventus, talks have been rife for months now regarding a reunion between the two in Turin. This would see the Italian star link up with Sarri at a third club.
The report, however, claims that the pair have not spoken to each other since the manager’s exit from Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder struggled in his first season at the club and was often made the scapegoat for substandard results. He has enjoyed a new lease of life at the Bridge under Lampard. One of Chelsea’s senior players, he has made 37 appearances this season.
Jorginho has also shown an improvement in his goal contribution by scoring seven goals and assisting two more this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
In spite of the competition for places in the Blues midfield, Jorginho is keen to stay at the club. He is also a huge admirer of Lampard’s work at the London giants. (h/t The Athletic)
Lampard is keen to rebuild the squad for next season. The Blues have stolen a march on their rivals by signing Hakim Ziyech and also Timo Werner. The latter however is yet to be confirmed. (h/t Mirror)
With new faces adding to the quality in the squad, the onus will be on Jorginho as a senior player to hold the fort.
With other veterans such as Pedro and Willian on their way out, the Italian’s role will be very important.

Juventus too have been hard hit by the financial implications fo the COVID-19 pandemic. It is difficult to see them afford Jorginho who has three more years to go on his contract.
He may not be the fashionable or skilled of players. But the Italian is a vital cog in the Chelsea setup. His staying at the club will only benefit us.
