Ajax Amsterdam star Hakim Ziyech became the first senior player to officially sign for Chelsea this year.
The 27-year-old attacker has proven to be a stellar player over the last couple of years in the Eredivisie. He played a huge part in the Dutch side’s run to the Champions League semifinals in 2019.
With the Eredivisie season cancelled, Ziyech is now counting down the days until he can join up with his new teammates.
Unlike the Dutch league, the Premier League returned to action last week. Chelsea took on Aston Villa as they looked to solidify their hold on the fourth spot.
Ziyech appears to be glued in on the team as they overcame a first-half deficit to run out 2-1 winners. He was glad about the result and replied in the affirmative to Antonio Rudiger’s Instagram post.
Ziyech is one of two high-profile signings who are set to call Stamford Bridge home. Alongside Timo Werner, the Moroccan international will add youth and ability to the Chelsea frontline.
The Blues have embarked upon a no-nonsense approach in the transfer market. By signing two of Europe’s best talents, we threaten to leave our rivals behind and close the gap at the top.
We cannot wait to watch Ziyech in action. From the looks of it, neither can he wait to be involved.
The win over Villa takes us five clear of Manchester United. It also takes us closer to Leicester City, who are just three points ahead of us.
The win may not have been pretty, but the three points could make all the difference when the season comes to a close. The Blues return to action this Thursday as they take on defending champions Manchester City.
