Manchester City hold talks with Chelsea target Leon Bailey
According to a report from Foot Mercato (h/t Mirror), Premier League champions Manchester City are set to rival Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
The 22-year-old Bailey has been heralded as one of the most exciting wingers in Europe ever since he broke onto the scenes at Belgian outfit KRC Genk.
The Jamaican moved to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2017 and has continued to impress in Germany. In the ongoing campaign, Bailey has produced a decent return of seven goals and three assists in 28 matches across all competitions.
The winger put one of his finest performances of the season earlier this week against FC Koln, following which a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, have taken an interest. (h/t Daily Mail)
With both Willian and Pedro nearing the end of their contracts, there will be a need for new wingers at Stamford Bridge next season. Bailey, to that end, would be an exciting addition. At 22, he still has his best years ahead of him and has shown great potential in his career so far.
However, the Cityzens already seem to have stolen a march on us, as Pep Guardiola has held talks with the 22-year-old Jamaican international in order to convince him to join him at the Etihad. (h/t Mirror)

Chelsea have already made quite the splash in the transfer market, securing the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. Adding someone of Bailey’s capabilities would have made us even more threatening going forward.
It now remains to be seen if Chelsea do make a concrete effort to sign the Jamaican. Irrespective of that, exciting times lie ahead for the supporters.
