Frank Lampard reaches out to Tammy Abraham following Timo Werner signing

As reported by the Metro, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has sent a message to Tammy Abraham following the signing of German ace Timo Werner.

The 24-year-old Leipzig star arrives in London as one of the best strikers in European football. Tammy Abraham has been Chelsea’s first-choice frontman this season and is also the club’s top scorer with 15 goals.

With the duo set to become direct competitors to each other, Lampard has decided to speak to his young star. (h/t Metro)

“He has been fantastic this season. He has to sustain and improve because at Chelsea we have demands.”

Lampard’s take on the matter is understandable given the club’s ambitions. Abraham is good and has delivered, but will need to keep improving to keep up with the club’s demands.

As things stand, Werner is a world-class forward who is miles ahead of Abraham. Unless the Englishman steps up, he risks being left behind.

Frank Lampard knows what it is like to be a Chelsea player

Chelsea has rotated a number of players in the Roman Abramovich era. While a number of players have made their mark, a number of others have failed as well. (h/t Metro)

“We have had options and pleased with the idea of that.”

As one of the first players in the lineup during his time as a player, Lampard has an excellent idea of what it takes to succeed at the Bridge.

With him now at the helm, Abraham will do well to heed his advice.

It may seem harsh to be told to improve even after giving it your all. With the competitive nature of the sport you either perform or perish.

Werner is indeed an excellent signing. But for the rest of the campaign, we will have to depend on Abraham. Hopefully, he will thrive under the pressure rather than get demotivated.
