Abramovich in personal talks to bring £90m-rated Bundesliga star to Chelsea

Roman Abramovich in personal talks with Kai Havertz

According to Sport Buzzer (h/t Express), Chelsea owner has personally contacted Bundesliga sensation Kai Havertz regarding a summer transfer.

The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football. Having already agreed to sign one German sensation in Timo Werner, Chelsea are also keen to add Havertz to their squad.

The youngster enjoyed a slow start this season. He picked up the pace as the season went on and has scored 15 goals and assisted 8 more in 39 appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Unlike our rivals who are being wary due to the financial crisis, Chelsea have gone about ensuring their summer rebuild gets done as quickly as possible.

It is a summer of change at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Pedro and Willian set to say goodbye. With Hakim Ziyech also set to join, the Blues will have a talented attack to unleash next season.

The addition of Havertz could be a gamechanger that can propel us to the top. We currently lag behind Liverpool and Manchester City by some margin.

Signing these talented individuals will go a long way in addressing the gap at the top. Although it is far from guaranteed, Frank Lampard will have the tools at his disposal to get the job done.

Chelsea won the race for Tiimo Werner

Havertz will, however, not come cheap. According to the report, Abramovich is ready to pay the player’s mammoth £90million asking price.

The Russian oligarch plans to raise the funds by selling N’Golo Kante and Jorginho. It is imperative that we have a healthy mix of youth and experience. Getting rid of our two midfield generals might not be the best move.

A major hurdle in our path is the player’s preference to move to the La Liga. Whether we can sway him to London or not remains to be seen.
