According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is keen on a permanent switch to AC Milan this summer.
The Frenchman’s move to Chelsea has been a colossal disaster. He has been a shadow of the player that starred for Monaco.
He was shipped out on loan to Milan just a year after moving to the Bridge. Following a decent stint in the Italian capital, he returned to Monaco on loan for the current season. The French side do have the option of signing him permanently for €42.5million.
He is, however, keen on a return to Milan, with Spanish side Sevilla also keen. The 25-year-old has done reasonably well in both loan spells. However, his career at the Bridge looks set to be over.
His stay at the San Siro was not without event as he was involved in a bust-up with then-manager Gennaro Gattuso. The Italian has since moved on and has taken the prospect of any bad blood between them.
He made 42 appearances for the Rossoneri and scored one goal and one assist. Bakayoko was racially abused by Lazio fans during the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal match that Milan lost 1-0.
Bakayoko is by no means a bad player. A powerfully built athlete, he is a complete player who can contribute both to the attack and the defence.
His inability to adapt to the Premier League, however, makes him a liability to Chelsea. Both the player and the club will only be glad to part company.
